Sarah de Carvalho Hartmann
Since autumn 2024, Sarah de Carvalho Hartmann has been working as an HR Business Partner at TRATON in Södertälje, supporting her colleagues in developing their professional potential.

As a Senior HR Business Partner for TRATON GROUP in Södertälje I support my colleagues in developing their professional potential. At the same time, I help the TRATON GROUP and its brands become fit for current and future challenges.

With a view to the future, it is important to promote the exchange of ideas among employees. My colleagues and I are therefore focused on consistently expanding intercultural cooperation. Our goal is to enable our colleagues to communicate and learn from each other across locations and cultures.

Healthy dialogue allows you to see the bigger picture – and opens up new professional horizons. In Sweden, for example, it is common to make decisions together with team members. The exchange of opinions can sometimes be very intense. Managers and employees from other cultural backgrounds often have to learn this kind of collaborative communication first – and we help them. This is one of the many HR tasks at TRATON, where we see time and again that clear and transparent communication is the glue that holds cultures together.

Since Sarah has been living in Sweden, she has learned a lot about the Scandinavian country. At gatherings, she likes to test her (still improvable) Swedish language skills.

As an HR business partner, I am inspired by the enthusiasm and willingness to learn new things and put them into practice shown by TRATON colleagues. This is a great example of successful theory-practice transfer – a topic that I have addressed in my role as a lecturer at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) and at various universities, among other places, and on which I wrote my doctoral thesis at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.

Word gets around about our commitment, making TRATON an attractive employer for talented individuals and young professionals. At the same time, we pay attention to the long-term professional development of our colleagues.

After all, long-standing employees and their experience are key building blocks for TRATON's future readiness. We work with the HR team in Munich on our activities.

Looking towards the future of the TRATON GROUP, Sarah's focus is on promoting exchange among employees. Staff members should communicate across locations and cultures, learning from one another.

Since moving to Sweden, I have learnt a lot about the country and its people, and I hope to test my (still limited) Swedish here in the future. I draw energy from being in nature – whether it's walking along the coast or cycling. And when visitors from Germany come over, a trip to the old town of Stockholm with its narrow streets, historic medieval architecture, and charming cafes around the shopping street Västerlånggatan is on the program.

What do I miss about Germany? Definitely the dark, hearty bread – especially from the “Brotpuristen” (bread purists) in Speyer – my favorite bakery when I visit family and friends.

Best regards from Sweden,
